Believing Thomas

Undoubtedly you have probably heard the well known phase, "Doubting Thomas". Most don't even know what it means or why people say it, but still we say it.

This is what our service was over today.  How the faith of one of His 12 Disciples, one of the chosen ones, doubted when he had been told our Savior had risen from the dead. Hinting his name, Doubting Thomas. In fact, He said that He would "never believe" unless he saw some physical proof, he needed to touch His hands and sides.  It made me stop and think, how many times have I tried to test God, from saying well if you do this God or if you don't do this God then I will do this or that. In Matthew 4 the devil tries to tempt Jesus to throw himself off the top of the temple mocking Jesus saying well it is written,"He will command his angels to bear you up so you don't get hurt," and Jesus says "YOu shall not put the Lord your God to the test."

I think that is is human nature to try to "bargain with" or "test" God, because we feel like we need physical proof, we need to see it to believe, just like Thomas. Verse 29 of John 4 says "Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Father please help to have belief beyond doubting. Please let me learn to take the next steps that I need to, knowing that you are right there taking carrying me the whole time.  I want to have the faith of a child, knowing that you are always there because that is what you promised us, to never let us go.

P.S. tomorrow is the big day, we find out who is doing all this dancing in my belly! Will keep you updated...........maybe ;)

Rekindled Friendship

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given to him." How awesome is this? I have been praying and begging Jesus to draw me closer to His heart. I long to hear him, to be close to him, to feel him next to me. I want to know His will for my life, I want to be in the middle of it, trusting Him completely and not relying on my own incapable self.

Today like the past few days, I have prayed this prayer specifically, and guess what. He delivered! I can't believe how little faith I had that I would be able to hear His calling, but today it was easy. He just smacked me in the face with it.

Today I got the chance to speak with a dear friend who I had lost touch with for the past couple of years. It was great to hear from her and I am glad that we have reconnected. I was glad to know that I am not the only one who struggles with hearing His calling, hearing Him speak to me, knowing what His will is for me. Even though I was raised in a Christian home, and was saved at a young age, I have just recently began actually having a relationship with Him. But He still used me today to help an even "younger" believer who is married to a non-believer.

Tonight my prayer is for my sweet friend, who longs to know Him more, to continue to seek Him and His will for her life. And for her sweet husband who I know loves her dearly but is walking through this world in the dark, that he would find the Light and have a spot for himself in Heaven next to his sweet wife praising the Maker forever in Heaven.

Tonight this is the verse I will cling to because we all will face trials while on this Earth but He promises good for us in eternity,

"Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him." James 1: 12

Oh my, SNOW!

Friends can you believe all this white fluffiness we are having here in Texas?!? CJ and I are amazed that for the 2nd year in a row we have over 6 inches of snow in our house. Here is a current picture

Those tracks are from Choppie, he loves the snow!

So an update from last week, today we are 18 weeks pregnant! I am not sure but I think the last time I posted about maybe being able to feel baby H move but then changed my mind, well I change it back. I have felt that same flutter in my tummy, like when you are on a roller coaster and go down the first big drop, throw in a few butterflies and that's what it feels like to me. So we are going to say that I can feel our sweet little love bug dancing a little jig in there! Here is a picture of me and baby H today.

18 weeks! Almost halfway done!

This has been an interesting week, I ended up going to Matt's house on Monday night because it was going to get icy and CJ didn't think it would be safe for me to try to drive in from our house. Well was he right, it was awful Monday morning it took about 20 minutes for the ice to even melt off of my windshield! Then my the exit I take to get to work was closed and I ended up exit into downtown Dallas, which I don't know that well. So I called work and the team leader walked me through how to get to the hospital. I stayed at a hotel on Tuesday  night, the hospital offers us rooms when the weather is bad so they can make sure they have staff for the next shifts.

A lady at work Tuesday introduced me to a new blog, it's a young girl from Tennessee who moved to Uganda when she was 18 because God was calling her to live her life there, among the "least of these". It is truly amazing to read about what He has been doing there through her. She is now 21, has a ministry called Amazima, has adopted 14 girls, and feeds the people of a slum village lunch and dinner everyday. She truly has an amazing connection to God, and I have been praying to have a faith like hers. If you have a chance please read what He is doing through her at kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com

Praying for a healthy baby and healthy spirit.
